China Lake Alliance is proud of our support for the Navy at China Lake for the past 20 years. We strongly believe that China Lake is essential to the Navy’s mission and our national defense, and that the Indian Wells Valley community is essential to the well-being and future of China Lake.

Situated in the Upper Mojave Desert, on over 1.1 million acres of land and utilizing 20,000 square miles of restricted airspace, China Lake has a history of research, development and testing aircraft systems and air-launched weapons.

Established in 1943, China Lake developed, tested, and fielded the first air-launched rockets which were widely and effectively used in World War II. It subsequently conceptualized, developed, tested and fielded the Sidewinder heat-seeking air-to-air missile that revolutionized air warfare and is still in use today by the Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and numerous allied nations. These weapons and many others developed by China Lake have given our armed forces a critical advantage in every conflict in which the United States has been involved over the past 70 years.

As we move into the future, China Lake's scientific and engineering capabilities will continue to be of paramount importance to our nation's defense, and the China Lake Alliance will continue to take pride in supporting China Lake and the Navy in their mission.
