Cal UAS Submits Final Document to FAA

After a three months of long nights and sorting through copious amounts of data, the Cal Unmanned Aircraft Systems Portal filed its final volume Monday for its bid to be considered one of six Federal Aviation Administration’s test sites for unmanned systems.

The goal of this workshop is to hold technical exchange for establishing integrated operations of air and ground vehicles in a land based perimeter defense mission area.

Location: The workshop will be held at NAWCWD, China Lake CA.

For planning purposes, the top level agenda will cover three days:

Sept 13 (Tue): Mission Engineering Overview and Capability Briefings – the first day will set the scope of the project in order for interested teams to determine how best they can fit technologies/components/systems into the mission profiles. The intent is to provide an openly collaborative discussion.

Sept 14 (Wed): Range Orientation Tour and operating area considerations – this day will present the group with the operating area that will be used throughout the project. We will also break down into functional groups in the afternoon to discuss specific mission phases and integrated capabilities in those mission phases.

Sept 15 (Thu): Team Breakout sessions – this day is intended for teaming discussions across capability areas where desired.

VADM Architzel agrees to be the Grand marshall of the Ridgecrest Parade of 1,000 Flags

During my recent trip to DC, I stopped by and visited with VADM Architzel, NAVAIR commander. After consulting with the Ridgecrest Exchange Club, I asked the admiral if he would join us in September and be the Grand Marshall of our annual Parade of 1,000 Flags. He agreed. We are looking forward to helping with the Exchange Club and having the VADM and his wife act as our grand marshall!!!
